Whyteleafe 1 Tonbridge Wells Spartak 1

Leafe were held by their closest rivils in this 2nd v 3rd  fixture.

It all started well and Adam opened the scoring with a a lobbed effort over the keeper.  Ellis saved a couple of efforts well with his legs, Legg by name legs by nature!! Riley was unfortunate to let the ball hit his arm and Tonbridge converted the penalty with aplomb.

One all at half time and Leafe started to play better football than in the first half with Ben Brant lobbing the ball over the keeper and bar after some got work by Jaden and Adam.

Josh worked hard up front but couldn’t escape the close attention from from the Tonbridge defenders.  The game swung from end to end and either team had chances to win it, but it ended all square.

MOM Fisayo.

Selsdon 4 Whyteleafe 2

Leafe’s unbeaten run came to a shuddering halt at Sandilands. Selsdon started strongly and put Riley and Fisayo under pressure.

Selsdon’s early dominance saw them take a deserved lead. A second soon followed when the ref awarded Selsdon a harsh penalty which they despatched with aplomb.

Jaden started to get into the game and pulling the strings with Adam working hard and Max putting an effort wide.

Leafe started to get back into the game and Twinkle toes Sonny nicked a goal back just before halftime.

Leafe had the slight slope advantage in the second half and put the Selsdon goal under a lot of pressure. A Selsdon player handled in the box, but the ref didn’t give it. Leafe weren’t to know, but this decision turned out to be the defining moment in the game.

Jaden, Josh, Sonny, Max and Adam all had efforts saved, and an equaliser came when Max followed in Josh’s effort.

The goal spurred Selsdon into action and they started to get back into the game. Ben miss timed a clearance and Selsdon punished it with a clinical finish.

Leafe changed formation and threw Riley on upfront which nearly paid dividends. With time running out and Leafe pressing for the equaliser, disaster, Selsdon broke quickly and sealed the game with a fourth. It was harsh on the boys, but we never took our chances.

After only conceding 6 goals in 11 games, the goal difference has taken a hammering today.

Again the team get the MOM award.

Whyteleafe 5 Epsom Eagles 1

Whyteleafe closed the gap at the top to a point with an impressive display.

Twinkle toes Docherty opened the scoring and a long range effort from Jayden doubled the lead.

Adam came off the bench and immediately had an effect and added another. He then missed a sitter from a yard.

Adam scored his first brace getting on the end of a great cross by Sonny.

Riley & Fisayo repelled Epsoms attacks, but one poor clearance fell straight to their midfielder who hit it back first time to sail into the roof of the net. Ellis would have needed to have been on Peter Crouch’s shoulders to have had a chance. He made up for it by saving expertly at the forwards feet minutes later.

Max and Josh combined well to set up Sonny who fired in a shot which was too hot for the keeper to handle and Leafe efectively finished the game as a contest.
