Another trophy for the cabinet! This season’s U9A team were on top form at the NPL Tournament, winning 4 out of 5 games with a 0-0 draw in the 5th, which took them into the Quarter Finals against AFC Wimbledon. This game went to Golden Goals as did the Semi Final against NPL themselves. Having won that, they met Sutton in the Final.
We welcome back Charlie Warren and Sam Allen who both had great games and slotted back into the team as if they’d never been away. In fact Sam scored the first goal of the tournament against his old team - well done Sam!
Ben and Ellis shared the goalkeeping and we had a clean sheet throughout - great job boys.
Adam and Harvey were excellent throughout and let nothing past them. Jaden and Josh were exceptional up front - Josh scored 3 goals and Jaden was particularly unlucky when several of his shots narrowly missed the goal.
Match stats:
Josh - 3 goals in open play, 2 golden goals, winning goal in the Final
Adam - 2 goals
Charlie - 2 goals
Sam and Jaden - 1 goal each

Revenge was sweet for the Under 9A team on Saturday. Having been pipped at the post for the Cup by Oxshott Royals due to injury, in Saturday’s thrilling game the team came out on top, winning 1:0. The boys came out full of fire and determination. Oxshott didn’t know what hit them. Within moments, Josh shot at goal, only to hit the post but Adam was on hand to follow up and slipped the ball into the net - 1 up! If it hadn’t been for the Oxshott Keeper, we would have scored more - despite his best efforts, Ben Brant had several shots saved. Jaden proved an inspiration in midfield, ensuring that we kept most of the possession. There was a scary moment when Oxshott were awarded a penalty but dream Keeper Ellis made a brilliant save, putting the ball behind for a corner. Oxshott pulled out all the stops in the second half but we proved to be the better team on the day due to excellent defending by Ben Johnson, Fisayo and Harvey. We are now Runners Up in the League - well done boys!

The boys were so brave, hobbling around the pitch. Ellis got injured so Ben Johnson went into goal and made some great saves. Despite their best efforts, Josh and Ben were unable to score this time. Sonny and Fisayo (both carrying injuries) defended well. Adam and Harvey played their hearts out. Everyone gave 100% and although we lost 4:0, they can be proud of themselves. The best part of the day was the kick-about (and food) afterwards. Photos to follow……….

Shrley were lively from the start and forced Ellis into a few saves. Ben Brant nearly took the keepers head off with a thundering shot which went out for a corner.
Shirley took the lead after Leafe failed to clear. Ben Johnson and Adam stuck to their tasks against two powerful midfielders.
Josh was unlucky not to score just before half time. Leafe had the slope in the second half and applied a lot of pressure and twinkle toes Sonny poked in the equalizer.
Fisayo looked comfortable at the back and Riley pushed forward to try to get the winner.
Despite putting the Shirley goal under a lot of pressure, Leafe’s last chance fell to Josh who headed over Max’s corner.
So Leafe finished 3rd on goal difference, had the meanest defence and the only team to beat the winners Selsdon.
