No tags for this post.Whyteleafe closed the gap at the top to a point with an impressive display.
Twinkle toes Docherty opened the scoring and a long range effort from Jayden doubled the lead.
Adam came off the bench and immediately had an effect and added another. He then missed a sitter from a yard.
Adam scored his first brace getting on the end of a great cross by Sonny.
Riley & Fisayo repelled Epsoms attacks, but one poor clearance fell straight to their midfielder who hit it back first time to sail into the roof of the net. Ellis would have needed to have been on Peter Crouch’s shoulders to have had a chance. He made up for it by saving expertly at the forwards feet minutes later.
Max and Josh combined well to set up Sonny who fired in a shot which was too hot for the keeper to handle and Leafe efectively finished the game as a contest.
MOM The team
No tags for this post.Leafe had a full squad for this top of the table clash and started brightly with Ben dominating the midfield. Adam and Max both provided a good supply to Josh upfront who caused their defence problems, bit disappointed with the celebration though!!
The deadlock was broken when twinkle toes Docherty crept in at the far post to tuck the opener away.
One nil at the break and fingers Legg had little to do.
Langley pressed in the second half, but Fisayo and Riley held firm until Riley attempted to block a shot and inadvertantly diverted it past the hapless Ellis.
Leafe pressed again and took the lead when the rock known as Fisayo gambled at a corner at the front post and flicked it in the net to restore the advantage. Again, could do better with the celebration!!
Langley came back again and were thrown a lifeline when Riley handled in the box. As a consequence Riley’s bedroom was searched when he got home and much to the horror of his parents found a Titus Bramble DVD, which explains a lot!!
Fingers reputation for penalty saves obviously preyed on the takers mind and he pulled it wide.
Leafe promptly moved the ball upfield with a slick passing move and Jaden tucked it away to seal the victory. At last, a decent celebration!!!

Leafe crashed out of the cup after a plucky performance against the runaway Division B leaders.
Jaden was out with man flu, Riley, who had been off school most of the week dropped out of the warm up feeling ill. Luckily, Ben Brant had just finished his weetabix and managed to put in his first appearance of the season.
Tulse Hill started strongly and put the leafe defence under pressure. Fisayo the rock and twinkle toes Docherty held firm with Fingers Legg dominanting his box as always.
Ben Johnson competed well at centre mid and Josh was lively upfront. Adam and Max tracked back well and joined the attacks whenever they could. Chances were limited first half as their 6 foot centre back (wearing size 8 boots!!!) seemed to always get something in the way.
Nil nil at half time and Leafe had the slope in the second half. Leafe took the game to Tulse Hill and couldn’t find a way through. Then disaster, Tulse Hill broke quickly and scored against the run of play. Their supporters celebrated by running on the pitch, which was disappointing to see at a kids match.
Leafe showed great character and Ben Brant notched the equaliser to send the game into extra time.
Two minutes in and Tulse Hill scrambled the ball into the net. The boys battled their hearts out to the final whistle and deserved at least a chance of penalties, but it wasn’t to be this year.
All the boys were MOM this week.
Just to point out that that is our first defeat by mid December, so well done!!!

The game was switched to the astro at the eleventh hour to ensure that the weather didn’t prevent the game from being played. The message got through to some parents, but the typical wife/husband communication again came to the fore. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth the time was spent well in the cafe!!
Just as the teams warmed up, the weather started to close in, so the game started early. Leafe took control with early efforts from Jaden and Josh. Adam tormented the defender but was unable to pick out a Leafe player in the box. Then disaster, Leafe got caught by Tonbridge’s first meaningful attack and number 42 fired in the opener. Max tackled well but had to go off winded.
Twinkle toes Docherty came on with immediate effect and caused the defender problems. As the weather worsen and the horizontal rain came along, the fair weather supporters (you know who you are!!) retired to the cars.
Second half and the hail started, but the boys gallantly carried on. Sonny’s teeth were chattering and he had to take refuge in the heated seats in the Toyota Land Cruiser.
Leafe battled on with Riley playing in some good balls and Fisayo ‘the rock’ stood firm. Fingers Legg in goal had a bit more action second half. With Leafe pressing the equalizer eventually came from Jaden aka Rafael, rifling the ball into the top corner.
Thoroughly frozen, ‘Ice Pole’ Adam had to take his turn on the heated seat and Sonny came back on to pitch. With the clock ticking down, Tonbridge lifted one final cross into the box, and Ellis was by now looking like a drowned rat, managed to stop it, drop it between his legs and pick it up!! phew!!
Every one piled inthe bar for a hot chocolate and to warm up, 15 minutes later and the sun came out!!
MOM Riley
No tags for this post. There was a bit of moisture in the air down at Kenley for this Second Round League Cup match. Leafe were keen to avoid an early exit in tricky conditions.
Ben won the ball in the middle of the park and smashed in a long range effort which was fumbled by the keeper and in for the opener.
Leafe pressed well and Sonny crossed for Max to add a second. Two nil at half time and the parents were enjoying the sideways rain.
Leafe continued to press second half and Riley whipped in a cross for Adam to score a well earned goal. Ellis was called into action to clear up a couple of break aways.
Fisayo went on a mazey run and was hacked down on the edge of the box. Jaden took the resultant free kick and hit the bar.
Adam had another effort crash off the bar and Sonny followed in well to round off a comprehensive victory.
MOM Adam
No tags for this post.Leafe made the long journey to SE6 on a an sunny autumnal afternoon to secure another two points.
Leafe opened strongly with Jaden and Josh testing the keeper. Ben dominated midfield with an all action display with Adam and Fisayo sweeping up any break aways from Moonshot. 0-0 at half time and the parents and manager started to fear that it was going to be one of those days.
Ellis orchestrated the defence and his distrbution was again first class. Sonny was playing some of the best form this season and was unable twice to force the ball home. The break through finally came after a neat passing move involving Max, Ben and Sonny which was cooly finished off by the talismatic Jaden.
Leafe pressed and another goal eventually came to settle the nerves when Jaden slotted his and the team’s second.
Well done to keep going to grind out a result. The boys were so excited after the match, they even missed the opportunity of an ice cream!!
